LCD Monitors: Pioneers of the Technological Revolution
LCD monitors are being used extensively now and these are outselling the other types of monitors. Since these have become affordable now, therefore the demand for the LCD has increased immensely. These displays not only have great features but also make a good impact on user’s health. The design and structure of the flat screen monitors have changed dramatically in the recent times. The thickness of such displays is just a few inches and the weight is much lighter than the normal screens. Due to the attractive shapes and sizes, the LCD screens take very less desk space. The following lines explain various advantages of these monitors.
Brightness: LCD flat panels are brighter than any other monitors including CRT displays. These equipments are capable of generating vibrant images which require more brightness.
Clarity of images: The images and text matters produced by LCD monitors are quite attractive and clear. A collection of static and crystal clear pixels help such screens to produce this clarity.
Footprint: The depth of a LCD is only few inches, so it can be placed near the wall in any corner of the room. It saves a lot of space which can be used for other purposes.
Width of the border: This type of screen has very narrow screen boarders that help in creating large virtual displays. Such displays are basically a collection of smaller screens.
Electricity consumption: The LCD screen is useful because of its less power consumption. In fact, these displays consume less than half of what a CRT display takes. In an office, where hundreds of computers run everyday, the LCD flat panels support in cutting the operating costs.
Reduced eye strain: The flat screens produces less eye strain because of their ergonomic features. In fact, they are easier to look at and one can work for many hours on these displays.
The flat monitors come in bigger size than CRT screens. Therefore, it becomes easy to install any particular computer software in the computer system. Some of the softwares require high resolution monitors and therefore LCD screens are perfect for installing them. The refreshing time is also very less on these display systems. The pixels automatically get on or off and therefore one does not need to refresh the screen time and again.
Getting a LCD flat screen becomes quite difficult since one can find a large number of manufacturers in the markets that make these displays. The online marketplaces have also come into the picture in the last five years. Some of the points which should be looked while purchasing a good quality flat screen monitor are given below.
Size: A flat display uses its entire screen to project an image. Therefore, the shoppers should look for the adequate screen size. The 17-inch models are commonly found in the households.
Resolution: The buyers should go for the high resolution monitors. At the same time they must take care of the ergonomic features of screens.
Contrast ratio: Since higher contrast ratio provides better colour combination of the screen, so one should look for this feature. The ratio of 350:1 can be ideal for showing wallpapers, screen savers and other high quality videos.
There are a number of companies that manufacture the LCD monitors. HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Toshiba, etc., are the leading brands these days. All of them produce dual-tilt and anti-glare LCD monitors. The HP Pavilion screens come up with Harmon Kardon speakers which produce amazing sound quality. Compaq Presario products are available in attractive colours and sizes. They also have inbuilt speakers that save substantial amount of disk space.

Flat Panel Monitors: A Question of Value
This article hopefully will address the value of flat panel monitors beyond simply looking at the price. Even though flat panel monitors are becoming cheaper every few months, they are still on average more expensive than cathode ray tubes. But the question is, is it worth it for the price?
Well consider these factors and incorporate them (or not) into your own decision making process. LCD flat panel monitors generally will not flicker as much as cathode ray tube monitors. The dimensions of the flat panel also tend to be more consistent. As far as the physical value of flat panel monitors, they are clearly much more compact while provide a greater viewing area than their CRT brethren.
And beyond the desktop, flat panels save you on power and electricity as they are less likely to hog up as much resources. One other thing is that you are far less likely to experience screen burn where an image is seared into the screen after being left on for a long time.
Flat panel LCD monitors do not experience distortions around magnetic forces. They also tend to better output colors and other renderings. Most people get hooked on LCD flat panel monitors the moment they start using it.
Though this is far from comprehensive in terms of assessing the value of flat panel monitors, it should offer fodder for you in terms of deciding what the value of these features are TO YOU. Good luck and have fun!

Beautiful, elegant, and functional -- a single pane of glass covers the entire front of the television, including the bezel. This design reduces or eliminates the "halo" effect that can occur around lettering and logos with traditional 3-pane designs Amazing color reproductionThe incredible black reproduction of a Panasonic High-Definition Plasma TV results in impressive contrast and beautiful, natural colors. So you'll get warm, accurate skin tones, gorgeous greens, breathtaking blues and vivid reds. For color that's as rich and bold as life itself, look to a Panasonic Plasma TV. |
Consistent brightness from any angleA Panasonic Plasma combines anti-glare and anti-reflection technology with the natural light-emitting properties of plasma, to give you a super-wide viewing range with a crisp, beautiful image from almost any angle. |
Smooth, graceful motionWhen you're watching sports or movies with fast-motion graphics, you want a TV that can keep up with the action. With over 900 lines of moving picture, self-illuminating plasma displays eliminate afterimages in fast-action scenes. So whether you're watching a sporting event or an action-packed movie, you'll always get the most impressive viewing experience possible. |
24p native reproductionMovies are shot at 24 frames per second. Unfortunately, TVs operating at 60Hz can only refresh 20 times per second, which means they must drop every fifth frame. With its 2008 Viera PZ85, PZ800, and PZ850 models, Panasonic introduces 24p native resolution, which means 24 frame per second movie content is reproduced frame for frame exactly, making for true-to-source smoothness of motion. |
1,000,000:1 ContrastThe Panasonic's Real Black system (a pre-discharge suppression system) and improved panel production processes combine to reproduce outstanding blacks with superb contrast. Each image is richly expressive, from bright scense, like scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Compare the image produced by conventional HDTV on the left to the Real Black image produced on the right |
More ColorsViera HDTVs support the xvYCC color profile (Extended YCC Colorimetry for Video Applications), or "x.v. color" for short. Standard RGB color space allows the display of a portion of the colors that are viewable to the human eye. The next generation "xvYCC" color space actually offers an available range of colors that exceeds what human eyes can recognize.
|
Deep ColorWhere x.v. color expands the available range of colors your HDTV can display, Deep Color increases the number of colors your HDTV can display within that range, for smoother transitions from color to color.

Customer Reviews
Great TV ...worth every dollar!!!~
Me and my boyfriend purchased this TV recently and it is totally worth every buck. We absolutely LOVE it! We went on CNET.COM to review all the recent picks for this year and this TV got the greatest review for its size and quality within an affordable price range. We chose the 58 inch instead of the 50 inch because bigger is always better and the quality of the image was not compromised at all even though the reviews were made on the 50in model. It's definitely a great buy.
Thank you Mr. Bezos and Amazon for your great service
You can research the TV Sets, any other electronics or any other other product for that matter by going to relevant sites like Cnet, Consumer Reports, etc. I base my decision to shop at Amazon is simply this: I trust Amazon like I do Walmart,Costco,Sears, and many of my local merchants. I will even buy a product from Amazon when it is slightly at a higher price because of this reason. Buy the way in case you are wondering 58" Panny is simply great which I knew before I placed the order. If you watch any amount of Sports and Movies buy a plasma like this one made by Panasonic. You will be very satisfied for years to come.
Very Satisfied
In my search for the best large screen plasma, it came down between thePanasonic Viera TH-58PZ800U 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV and the Pioneer 60" Kuro. The price differential was so great that the decision was a no brainer. (Best Buy has the Kuro at 5000.00 +) The Amazon delivery went smoothly. The set was in perfect condition and the picture was clear and balanced right out of the box. The set needed a surround system, which I have, so that issue was not was not a negative for me.
